About this role
We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Controller to play a pivotal role in Boulder’s next phase of growth. The Controller is an integral leader in our finance team and will support our objectives, goals, and strategies. The position will report to the VP Finance (Head of Finance) to shape the finance function. This position will lead the accounting function, month-end close, audit, tax, payroll, and optimize related processes.
Success in this role
- Oversee all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including but not limited to financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, and tax
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for management and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant regulations
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring timely completion
- Enact plans to streamline processes, including, but not limited to, GL, financial reporting, tax compliance, and management reporting
- Build the accounting function to scale with our growing business
- Develops long-term trusted relationships with internal business leaders and external partners, including auditors, tax consultants, and other financial advisors
Requirements for the role
- Minimum 7+ years of increasing responsibility in Finance & Accounting
- Experience in the healthcare industry
- Strong grasp of U.S. GAAP, U.S. Tax Compliance, and management reporting and analysis
- Detail oriented and analytical thinker
- Self-starter and collaborative team player
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and externally
- Regularly demonstrates Boulder’s core values
Nice to have but not required
- Big 4 experience
- Active CPA
- Experience in a startup or high growth environment
- Experience leading an audit
Work environment
- This is a fully remote role but we are currently only hiring candidates located in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, KY, MA, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA, and WV.

- Office Requirements: Boulder teammates working with sensitive information must have a dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet to maintain a secure, distraction-free environment, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards
- Boulder Care employees are free to use our river-front HQ located in Portland, OR whenever they would like
Expected hours of work
This is a full-time remote position expected to work 40 hours between Monday-Friday during standard business hours.
Compensation
The starting pay range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity grants in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave).
