THE POSITION

FanDuel is seeking a Senior Tax Manager who will join our growing Tax team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the FanDuel US and PokerStars US groups. The Senior Tax Manager will support tax compliance and planning across all indirect tax areas. You will have the opportunity to build and refine complex tax workpapers and financial models, and assist with the building, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions and automation within the function (e.g., Alteryx, RPA, etc.). The Senior Tax Manager will also assist the Tax Function senior leadership team with managing the junior members of the Tax team. This role will also require the Senior Tax Manager to work closely with business functions throughout the company as well as regularly partnering with the International Tax team at Flutter Entertainment plc.
This role represents an exciting opportunity to help shape the tax positions and processes across both US operating groups and the online gaming industry at large in a fast-paced and rapidly growing marketplace.
THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
- Own all indirect tax compliance responsibilities (e.g., sales & use taxes, VAT/GST, property taxes, etc.)
- Maintain all indirect tax certificates and registrations
- Work closely with our Accounting team and the Flutter Tax team to manage the tax accounting for all indirect tax matters
- Partner with our Tax Operations division and the Flutter Tax team to implement and maintain all aspects of our sales & use tax/VAT/GST engine (including taxability settings)
- Support the Tax Operations division with the creation of all indirect tax related product, data, and reporting business requirements
- Serve as the key finance transformation indirect tax SME
- Partner with the Tax Legal division to conduct indirect tax research, draft indirect tax position memos, maintain all indirect taxability matrices, and track indirect tax law changes and other developments
- Support the Tax Legal division with all indirect tax audit defense and controversy matters
- Assist with evaluating all indirect tax implications of potential business initiatives and M&A targets
- Liaise with tax and regulatory authorities
- Manage indirect tax consultants and outside counsel (inclusive of overseeing outsourcing engagements)
- Assist the Tax Director with managing all aspects of the Traditional Tax Division as a member of his leadership team
- Assist the Tax Function senior leadership team to manage junior members of the Tax team and implement professional development strategies across the entire Tax Function
- Collaborate to identify and implement potential process and control improvements across the entire Tax function
- Assist with the VP of Tax’s strategy workstreams that sit outside the Tax Function
THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field of study
- 7-10 years of professional indirect tax experience (preferably a combination of public accounting firm and private company experience)
Preferred Qualifications and Industry Experience:
- CPA certification
- Master’s Degree in Tax or Accounting
- Experience in the Following Industries:
- Technology, gaming, sports, and/or media
- Highly regulated environments (e.g., banking, telecom, infrastructure, etc.)
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrates intimate knowledge and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:
- Sales & use tax concepts (advanced expertise required)
- Other indirect tax areas (VAT/GST, property taxes, etc.)
- Tax accounting for indirect tax matters
- Demonstrates abilities and/or a proven record of success, as both an individual contributor and team member, in the following areas:
- Being a self-starter with the ability to bring strong analytical rigor to decision-making with a focus on getting the right answer
- Streamlining cross-departmental ways of working and collaboration in pursuit of common company goals
- Strong Excel skills with a desire to continually maintain and improve those skills
- Openness to learning about new areas of tax and financial reporting (via internal trainings and continuing professional education courses)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort with presenting to senior tax and non-tax business stakeholders

The applicable salary range for this position is $156,000 - $205,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
