Software Engineer II, Platform Core Services

Our mission: eliminating every barrier to mental health.
Spring Health is a global mental health company on a mission to eliminate every barrier to mental health. We're building a world where getting support is simple, personal, and built around the person, so care can continue through every job, move, health plan, and life stage.
Our AI-native platform helps us deliver personalized support across self-guided tools, coaching, therapy, medication management, and specialty care. With outcomes independently validated by JAMA Network Open and the Validation Institute, Spring Health reaches more than 170 million people worldwide through leading employers, health plans, and partners.
As an AI-native company, we believe technology should expand the reach, quality, and humanity of care. Every Spring Health team member is expected to use AI tools thoughtfully, apply human judgment to AI outputs, and keep building AI fluency in ways that support their role and our mission.
Reporting to Senior Engineering Manager, Platform Core Services, you will help build and maintain the shared platform services that our client engineering teams use to deliver solutions for their customers and end users. The Platform Core Services team owns foundational capabilities such as Auth, User Sync, Composer, and other shared services. This is high-leverage work: when we get an abstraction right and manage it in one place, we lower the cost of software delivery, make systems more stable, and keep security consistent for every team that depends on it.
Please note that this is a hybrid role based in Seattle, with an expectation to be in the office 2–3 days per week at our 255 S King St location. Candidates must be based in the Seattle metro area or able to relocate independently within 90 days of their start date. Occasional travel will be required for team on-sites.
What you’ll do
Write, review, and deliver production-ready code with a focus on correctness, clarity, and maintainability.
Participate actively in code reviews—giving constructive feedback and leveraging review comments as a learning opportunity.
Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to explore implementation approaches, accelerate development, generate documentation, and augment code reviews—providing sufficient context to get high-quality, system-aware outputs, and always critically reviewing AI-generated code before shipping.
Contribute to architectural discussions and tech debt prioritization within your team.
Proactively clarify requirements to remove ambiguity; identify and mitigate risks before they become blockers.
Deliver features independently on well-scoped work; support larger multi-person projects with consistent execution.
Collaborate with product managers and designers to break down complex requirements into manageable, shippable units.
Advocate for high engineering standards including test coverage, documentation, and observability.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support system reliability and respond to production issues.
Identify and resolve root causes across code domains; add logging, alerting, and monitoring as a standard part of your work.
Build and evolve shared services (Auth, User Sync, Composer) and the infrastructure and APIs beneath them, so client teams integrate instead of rebuilding.
Own shared systems that fall between teams: learn, document, and stabilize them, and roll out changes safely through versioning, backward compatibility, and deprecation paths.
Partner with client teams to turn repeated patterns into shared components with clear contracts, and measure adoption to guide what we evolve next.
