Kodiak’s unique modular hardware approach integrates sensors into a streamlined sensor-pod structure that optimizes for perception, scalability, and maintainability. The company autonomously delivers freight daily for its commercial customers across the Sun Belt states and for Atlas Energy in the Permian Basin. Kodiak also leverages its commercial self-driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), the Vice President (VP) of Finance will be a key leader in driving financial strategy and performance. As a strategic partner to the CFO, the VP of Finance will guide financial planning, lead strategic initiatives to support business growth, and play a critical role in, if not lead, investor relations. This highly visible role offers a unique opportunity to meaningfully shape the future of our financial operations. In this role you will:

  • Own the operating plan, including quarterly/annual budgeting, long range planning as well as cash flow forecasting, and monthly reporting, including variance analysis.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies that support business objectives, including managing cash flow, liquidity, and capital allocation.
  • Drive financial discipline, fact-based decision-making, and financial visibility across the company.
  • Develop insightful financial reporting and provide strategic guidance to senior management.
  • Drive dialogue between key stakeholders to establish and evolve organizational KPIs.
  • Lead the finance transformation for systems/processes, use of AI in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Contribute heavily to, if not lead, investor relations activities by helping develop guidance for the Street, anticipate questions on quarterly results/guidance from the analysts/investors and provide necessary information to address the same.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including lenders.
  • Drive mergers and acquisitions and other strategic initiatives.

Team Leadership:

  • Leverage the strengths of the current finance team, clarify roles and responsibilities while further coaching and mentoring team members, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and growth.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment and a culture that embraces continuous learning and professional growth.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus, with 13+ years of relevant FP&A experience, 5+ years of managerial experience and 3+ years of public company experience. Taking a company public a plus.
  • Proven experience in finance leadership roles within the technology sector, driving financial performance and growth while achieving budget and cash forecasts. Hardware manufacturing, inventory management and SaaS experience pluses.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, advanced proficiency in financial modeling and superb financial performance storytelling skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Possess a growth mindset and are comfortable with ambiguity and working in a fast-paced startup environment that will require you to create structure out of ambiguity, manage often competing priorities, and pivot quickly when circumstances change.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal and communication skills, cultivator of collaboratively working relationships with teams across an organization.
  • Forward-thinking, analytical and problem-solving mindset, drawn to building off of ambiguous and unsolved problems and “making it happen”.
  • A highly entrepreneurial “roll up your sleeves” mentality.
  • Attention to detail and strong strategic instincts. You are meticulous in ensuring your and others’ output is precise and error-free.
  • This role is 75%+ in-person in our Mountain View, CA, office

The annual salary range for this full-time position is $250,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual salary ranges will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
