Description
The Global Sourcing and Supply Manager (GSSM) acts as a key interface among Apple’s Worldwide Operations organization, strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers. As a GSSM you will be responsible for driving critical strategic and tactical initiatives of Apple’s supply chain. In this role, you will manage a specific commodity and will play an important role in the overall success of Apple’s supply chain development and operations.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of the commodity landscape to forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competitive forces. Identify changes in buyer and supplier power within core materials markets and use industry dynamics to Appleʼs advantage.
  • Effectively work with suppliers to negotiate optimal terms for sourcing. Understand the trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality in order to strike agreements that meet Appleʼs performance criteria and secure long term supply continuity.
  • Collaborate across the Apple organization to ensure business objectives are met. Rapidly synthesize and communicate findings to senior leaders and to actively identify potential supply issues that can affect product strategy.
  • Optimize global supply chain performance through cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. Develop an in-depth understanding of value-added manufacturing processes and costs, reverse logistics, and market intelligence, and apply this knowledge to influence Appleʼs future product roadmap and sourcing decisions.
  • Assess and mitigate risks to the business. Manage global supply chain disruptions in real time with the support of an international team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree with 3-6 years of overall experience and relevant procurement / operations background
  • Experience in supplier management and operations with some history of having solved complex supply chain issues
  • Hands on experience in developing robust localized supply chain in India for key technologies (eg. automation, capital equipment)
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally / domestically up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA/MS preferably in Supply chain
  • A tenacity, passion and demonstrated skill in negotiations
  • Excellent communication, capable of working with global teams
  • Can build, grow and develop key cross-functional relationships to be able to influence and drive projects
  • Experience working with OEMs and Contract Manufacturers in the consumer electronics industry a plus
  • Ability to operate independently and flexibility to adapt to dynamic environments
  • Ability to make decisions and solve complex problems with with partial/limited information
  • Direct experience in long term capacity planning a plus
  • Interest in technology
