Privacy is hiring a Compliance and Risk Lead with strong problem-solving, communication, and technical skills to manage both our compliance and risk management functions. This role will work closely with teams across Compliance, Risk, Analytics, Product, Engineering, and Payment Operations to oversee, evaluate, and continuously improve our compliance and risk policies, rules, alerts, and dashboards. This role will be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks on a range of compliance, operating, and regulatory issues impacting Privacy’s products, customers, and overall business.

What You’ll Do:

Lead Privacy’s compliance function

  • Ensure Privacy’s policies and procedures comply with applicable regulations and partner bank requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by coordinating requests for information, distributing audit documentation to internal teams, and addressing audit findings.
  • Act as Privacy’s primary liaison with partner banks and service providers.
  • Build awareness of emerging regulatory trends and risk indicators including supporting training efforts to ensure Privacy team awareness of regulatory requirements and company policies.

Oversee Privacy’s BSA/AML compliance strategy and operations

  • Contribute to the development of BSA/AML compliance policies and risk management protocols tailored to Privacy’s commercial needs, ensuring compliance with applicable BSA/AML and sanctions reporting standards.
  • Lead Privacy’s risk-based customer onboarding and ongoing BSA/AML reviews including flagging high-risk cases for further review and ensuring onboarding documentation is complete.
  • Respond to routine inquiries from internal teams regarding BSA/AML compliance policies and procedures, and escalate complex issues to senior staff.
  • Support BSA/AML monitoring, investigations, and regulatory reporting by gathering and organizing relevant documentation.
  • Oversee reporting mechanisms to identify, escalate, and resolve BSA/AML compliance and risk issues including preparing draft Unusual Activity Reports (UARs) and maintaining accurate record-keeping of compliance activities.

Drive continuous improvement in risk management

  • Deep dive into past and ongoing trends and provide data-driven insights that identify and predict risky behavior that could result in outsized operational, financial, and reputational risks for Privacy and our customers.
  • Tailor fraud rules and alerts; lead high-level risk initiatives and projects related to reducing fraud and chargebacks.
  • Provide guidance on complex payment, chargeback, and risk matters to Risk Ops and Payment Operations teams.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of financial services compliance and risk operations experience, strong preference for past work at a FinTech startup in Card Program Management or related field
  • 2+ years in a management role that included sourcing and hiring talent, scaling compliance operations, and providing ongoing coaching and feedback to team members
  • Strong knowledge and experience with federal regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, ECOA and FCRA
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal Regulations E and Z, NACHA operating guidelines, and payment network rules
  • Expertise in data-driven fraud analysis, fraud detection and systems for preventing financial fraud
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CCEP, ICA, or similar compliance credentials) preferred
  • Must have strong SQL skills and ability to apply this experience to business monitoring; Python experience a plus
  • A passion for identifying problems and finding practical solutions
  • Ability to make strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating a collaborative and growth mindset
  • Ability to altitude shift and serve as both an effective manager and at times individual contributor; willingness to roll up your sleeves

Base Salary for US candidates: $130,000 - $160,000
